Highlights include the salt museum and a small gift shop featuring locally made handicrafts. For lunch, you'll get the chance to try local flavors at the Palenque restaurant, the product of an international grassroots development initiative.

After lunch, you'll go to Hacienda Zuleta, a famous Ecuadorian hacienda converted into a first-class hotel. First built in 1691, Hacienda Zuleta was at one time a country home for a former President of Ecuador, Galo Plaza Lasso. In addition to being a first-class hotel, the hacienda is still a working farm, with cattle, horses and more. Your afternoon will be spent there, touring the hacienda and relaxing in the gardens.

Day 2 Hacienda Zuleta - Quito

After a traditional hacienda breakfast, there are a variety of activities to choose from, including taking a local cooking class or learning how to use traditional weaving tools.
